I can't tell you how much fun this was to make. Sculpey, I am your bitch.
Done as a commission for , this is a Samurai Deeper Kyo version of the classic "Maneki Neko" (lucky cat) banks and statuary you see in asian businesses and homes. ^^ Featuring everyone's favorite deadpan Shiseiten, Hotaru. XD
True to the "Maneki" style, he has his right hand raised in welcome, and adorned with cat ears and a tail, to complete the effect. Sitting on his raised hand is a caterpillar, one of Hotaru's weaknesses. *laughs* He loves poking at them. I'm torn between squeeing at the cute, and laughing my head off at the silliness.
Perched atop Neko!Hotaru's head, is none other than a chibified version of his half-brother, Shinrei. And doesn't the little guy look pleased about it? I just HAD to add the vein pop, because it just wouldn't be Shinrei without it. *laughs*
Maneki Hotaru is about 9 inches tall, total, and made entirely with white Sculpey polymer clay. About 5 pounds of it. Gah. Painted with acrylics, and a polyacrylic glaze.
I honestly couldn't find a good category for this, so I hope this one is okay. If someone knows of a better one, please let me know! I keep trying to put it in the Artisan Crafts section, but it keeps putting it in the general Traditional Art section! Grrr....
Heehee...yeah, it's really amazing how different the manga and the anime is. When anyone expresses interest in SDK, I ALWAYS recommend the manga. The anime is just too short; waaaaay off the storyline, and everyone's so freaking OOC that I want to cry. Seriously, there isn't ANYONE who acts the way they should! O.o
I agree. I never really had the interest to watch the whole anime, cause it was a total dissapointment right from the beginning. Man I'm glad that the manga's just the best. Never get dissapointed in that ~~
this is so f****** Amacing i would die to get one of those! O.O It must have been hard to paint is so well *or else it´s just me who doesn´t now anything about sculptures xD*
I´m also reading sdk. Anime wasn´t good at all..
Waiting for a new chapter...
I completely agree with you; I didn't like the anime at all; NOTHING like the manga. The manga is splendidly awesome.
It must have been hard to paint is so well
